About Us

The story goes like this...
As early 20-somethings, two sisters moved to NYC to pursue careers and live out a dream shared since childhood...being New Yorkers...

Life was treating us well and our careers were going nicely. Along with millions of others, we became not only New Yorkers, but commuting New Yorkers.

We embraced the subway and bus systems, the shameless fashion faux pas of wearing walking sneakers with our work pants, and the eternal complaint about always carrying what felt like 14 different bags on a daily basis.

It didn't take long for us to realize that city girls are a highly adaptable breed.

But back to those walking shoes...they were ruining our nice work pants! Hemmed for heels, but dragged up and down 3rd Avenue on a daily basis in our sneakers, we watched in horror as each pair of pants got dirty, got wet, and eventually got to be un-wearable.

There had to be a better way, and we were bewildered to find that no good solution existed. So together with our mom, who was tired of listening to her two daughters complain about this persistent problem, we went to work. Our goal was to create "something" attractive and easy to use that would solve the pant destruction dilemma.

We brainstormed.
We worked on prototypes.
We called manufacturers and suppliers.
We debated functionality.
We watched other people struggling with their pants as they got ready to walk out into the rain.
We tested the product on the streets, constantly asking the question, Would we use these?

The answer was YES!

And so here we are, a labor of love through and through.
We are thrilled to bring you a solution to one of those bothersome little city girl problems that we all know and love. And hate.

And by the way, we realize that it's not just city girls that have this problem. We probably would never have created a solution if we weren't city girls, but we're glad that we can help with all sorts of issues where there is a need for an easy temporary pant rollup.

We are getting our start by saving your pants, one leg at a time!

Stay tuned for expansion of the zakkerz line.  We currently offer a few basic colors and plan to offer a full line of colors and patterns in the near future.

p.s. you may be wondering by now, where did these girls come up with the name "zakkerz" anyway? we decided to name our company after our beloved family pet, a miniature poodle named zachary!
